The Round Lake Library, along with the Southern Adirondack Library System (SALS) presents Stories from Near and Far: a colorful sharing of folktales and personal stories from around the world told with warmth and wonder by storyteller Alan McClintock. This event will be held at the Malta Community Center on Sunday April 20th, at 2:00 p.m.
A storyteller for the past 20 years, Alan has been featured at public schools, libraries, and at the New York State Museum. he has also performed at the Dance Flurry, Schoharie Crossing, the Riverway Storytelling Festival, Story Sundays, and the 2006 Albany History Fair.
Alan tells a variety of stories, including folktales, personal stories about Albany, and stories of immigration.
This program is presented as part of the SALS 50th Anniversary celebration. SALS is partnering with the Story Circle of the Capital District to provide storytelling programs to each member library. We are thrilled to host Alan McClintock and celebrate the gift of storytelling.

Everywhere you look, coffee bars, book stores, even McDonald’s, you see people with laptops surfing the Internet. The Round Lake Library has added this service to the multitude of library services it offers to local residents and visitors. Library Director, Denise Coblish, states, “The library’s role has shifted. We are listening to what library users want to hear, read, see, and do rather than dictating to them what they should. Wireless Internet is definitely a crowd pleaser!”
The library is open M-Th 10-8, F 10-6 and Sa 10-2. Visitors using laptops in the library are requested to bring them with powered batteries as access to electrical outlets may not be available.
